Charlie's Playhouse: Help Teach Evolution to Your Kids

600 million years of evolution,
67 bizarre ancient creatures,
a bunch of great activities
and tons of fun!

My daughter asked me if her great-grandmother was around at the time of dinosaurs. It was so funny and I wanted to answer yes!

She likes to ask the hard questions. And despite the countless anthropology classes I took in college, I have a hard time explaining evolution in terms a five-year-old can understand.

I'm also often asked when I give talks to kids if dinosaurs and people lived at the same time. (The answer is NO!)

I love when I find a visual teaching aid that can be used in multiple ways and at multiple levels. I have found this in Charlie's Playhouse.

Charlie's Playhouse is a line of products to help teach kids how organisms evolved over time on our planet. They sent us the Giant Timeline Playmat and Ancient Creatures Cards to try out.

We've had a lot of learning fun stretching the playmat across our floor. My daughter likes to run up and down the length stopping on various creatures. She will point to a picture and ask me to name it, tell her how long ago it lived, and describe it.

And the Ancient Creature Cards are just cool! Boys who don't like to "learn" will even like looking at the cards and the playmat.

And because you can make playing with the playmat and cards fun, your kids will learn without realizing it.
