I'll provide the press, you make the bakery-style cookies with The Pampered Chef's new cookie press. That's the great thing about a cookie press, it's easy to make beautiful cookies right in your own home. I received a cookie press of my own after a recent trip to The Pampered Chef's headquarters last month. You can see it in action in the clip below.
We used the "spritz cookie" recipe that came with the press, but I trusted my nine-year-old's judgment when he told me the butter was soft enough to start mixing--it wasn't. I think I overmixed the batter and our dough was a bit sticky as a result. That said, the cookies (above, as opposed to the ones ruined in the fight you will see below) were OMG delish! And so pretty.
The press is easy to use and its large barrel lets you load a whole lot of dough in at once. The clear barrel makes it easy to keep track of how much dough you've used and how much you have left. Which begs the question, if you've pressed out two dozen cookies, is your barrel half empty or half full?
On the downside, it's a bit messy and inconvenient to change the insert disk (and therefore the cookie design) once you've gotten started.
This press has a special disk that serves as a potato ricer and another attachment that can be used to make crackers, something I will do with my boys before the end of the year.
