I just opened a carton of ice cream and I'm not sharing. Nope, not with anyone. Not with my children, not with my husband. It's all mine. What ice cream would give me such a selfish attitude? The new Haagen-Dazs Five ice cream.
If there is one thing that turns me off when purchasing food, any food, it's extra added ingredients that don't seem necessary to the product (HFCS, preservatives, "natural" flavor) and those whose names I cannot pronounce.
I mean, really? Why can't food just be plain, simple, and good at the same time?
Haagen-Dazs has addressed this with their new Five series of ice cream. That's right, each variety contains four basic ingredients--milk, cream, sugar and eggs--plus one "hero" flavor. That's it.
The result? Rich, delicious, creamy, flavorful ice cream. Can you use "clean" as an adjective for ice cream? Clean kind of sums it up for me because the simple flavors come through.
Oh, I love this stuff!
Haagen-Dazs Five comes in these flavors: mint, ginger, coffee, vanilla bean, passion fruit, brown sugar, and milk chocolate.
The flavors are quite intense, in a good way. Of the flavors my family tried, we each had a different favorite. Mine was mint and my husband's was passion fruit. The ginger was cra-zy! The first spoonful was so pungent, but it grows on you. I bet they had pregnant women in mind when they created this flavor! (Ginger soothes upset stomachs and what pregnant woman doesn't love ice cream?)
Haagen-Dazs Five is available nationally.
