
If you asked a group of parents of toddlers and preschoolers to name a few authors that they regularly read to their children, I bet the majority list Eric Carle among the best.

But our first acquired, and certainly our favorite, title has to be The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Doesn't every family own at least one version of this book?
March 20, 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, I know! Many of us read it as a child and are now reading it to our children.
You know how they say "everything old is new again"? We'll the newest format of The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a wonderful pop-up book.

I am always amazed by the paper engineering that goes into pop-up books. And this one is great! The little caterpillar and all his dining fare are brought to life in tangible form. And my daughter's favorite part? Of course, the very beautiful 3-dimensional butterfly at the end of the book.
