Sprig Toys Adventure Series Discover Rig

Jambo! (Hi!)

Talk about a toy you won't feel one iota guilty about giving, Sprig Toys is really revolutionary in the toy world.

Sprig Toys are made in Canada from recycled plastic such as milk jugs and reclaimed wood in the form of sawdust.* They contain no BPA, phthlalates, formaldehyde, urea, or heavy metals.

Add two things that save parents sanity:
  1. You open the box and they are ready to go. No twisty ties, no plastic clam shells. Just open and take it out of the box and play.
  2. They require no batteries. That's right, no batteries to buy or replace.
The Sprig Toys line includes three trucks: the Discover Rig, Rally Racer, and Baja Scout. Pump the Racer and Scout and the guide's helmet lights up. Push the Rig (with included handle if you like) and it plays music and tells stories. The Rig has three modes of play and each of the guides can be the driver and story teller in the Rig. There are two additional guides for sale including a female. (Though I think they are all pretty gender-neutral in appearance.)

On their site, you can even download coloring pages. (Here's an eco-friendly tip, use both sides of a piece of paper before recycling it.)

Here's the Discover Rig in action:

Here is a fun video of the toys being assembled:

Sprig Toys Adventure Series trucks are widely available at specialty toy stores, some major retailers, and of course on Amazon.com.

* These toys do have a natural wood scent since they are made with sawdust. There are no added scents. The scent is subtle, but if you are particularly sensitive to wood smells, you might want to look at it and smell it at a store before purchasing.
