My four-year-old daughter was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. This is a chronic condition that she unfortunately will deal with for the rest of her life. Though this is a lifelong chronic condition, researchers are making great strides in both treatments and improving the lives of those with Type 1 diabetes. Fundraising efforts, such as the Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes, can raise substantial funds and make real changes in the lives of children and adults who struggle every day. Diabetes can be life threatening, but it doesn't have to be.
