My daughter is a whiz at saying her ABC's and counting to 30. She's at the point in her preschool education when she is learning to recognize numbers and letters by sight and also write them. Reading won't be too far behind. But until a child can master reading, they must first master the basics.
I am a firm believer that learning should feel fun and effortless for children. When I received the Teach My Toddler tote, I was thrilled that I had the resources to teach my daughter the basics all organized in one convenient tote.
The tote is divided into four sections: Alphabet, Numbers, Shapes, and Colors (it actually says "Colours" because this is a Canadian company). And each section contains a puzzle (two for the letters: both upper and lower case), book, poster, and flashcards. The contents are laminated and should hold up to the abuse that we all know toddlers can give.
The shapes book, for example has the same drawing on each page. The drawing is blue, but the shape that is being taught on a particular page is drawn in orange. You can ask your child to point out each of the squares, ovals, etc.
I think that this tote can be used for a variety of ages and skill levels and that a parent and child will be able to use the tools differently at different times. For instance, I can read the books to my one-year-old and tell him about the different animals in the alphabet book. But with my three-year-old, I can have her tell me the letters and what sound they make and then have her sound out the animal's name.
