The No-Slip Grip Is No Lie

I've mentioned before how my girl has gorgeous hair. Plenty thick and beautifully curly, she nonetheless manages to lose her share of hair clips and barrettes.

I imagine by now I've spent the equivalent of one year's worth of private-school tuition on glittery hair pretties.

So when Parent Bloggers Network dangled Maiden America's non-slip hair clips in my direction, I jumped at the chance to have a crack at these pretty, pretty barrettes.

The clips come in several sizes, and I chose one extra small and two that were sized small. The website says the small are best for girls who are a little older. I also ordered a Pony Pair, which is a set of two clips that can be used singly or in a grouping, such as for pigtails.

I was skeptical about the claim that these clips never slip, but dude. They don't.

The Poo wore hers to school AND the playground, then she wore them to the mall and outside to play in the yard.

Those suckers didn't budge.

The only complaint I have is that you have to be careful with them. I had a hard time getting one on top of The Poo's ponytail (for decorative purposes). When I pushed a little hard to get it to snap, the mechanism broke.

Luckily I was able to snap it back together, but you do need to be fairly gentle. When in doubt, order a size larger than you think you'll need. I think that would solve the problem.

The clips are pretty girlie, so if you're looking for plain you're in the wrong place. I like simple, tailored clothes for The Poo, or athletic wear that can get knocked around and come out of the wash still looking new.

That said, we're suckers for velvet, crystal and flowers in our hair. The bonus? The clips are all made in the US, by military moms and wives.

So if you're looking for playground-proof pretty hair clips, order them from Maiden America.

THANKS for your great review!! Yeah - you can give that inside bar a good push or pinch the ends that hold that swing bar closer together - should keep that from happening. We use quality barrettes from France but, every blue moon...?! Anyway - again, I thank you for taking the time to test them and say it like it is!

Oh - and some of the moms / wives that make our barrettes are non-military, but we are passionate about supporting military - no matter what anyone's politics, the sacrifice of military families is something for which we hope to show our deepest gratitude.
