Flashback to last spring after the birth of my second child. I did not want to wear my maternity swimsuit again. I went store to store trying on swimsuits. I don't know how many I tried on. Maybe 50. None of them fit and I was humiliated. I was forced to look into the mirror over and over at my weirdly-shaped post-baby body. You know how it is: my waist is larger than my hips and my lactating boobs are huge! And heaven forbid a swimsuit manufacturer actually give a girl (the girls) a little support.
Alas, I gave up and wore my maternity swim suit for yet another season. The same suit I have worn the past three summers.
Fast forward to this year. I took my measurements and went online to Land's End to look at suits. At first it was a little overwhelming because there were so many choices. But I quickly narrowed down the field of possibilities.
You can search by size range, anxiety zones, body shape, bra type, collection, silouette style, control, swim leg height, and cover-up style.
I knew I wanted an underwire, a tankini style top, a bit of coverage, and a skirt-style bottom. Here's what I chose:
The Beach Living Dot Print V-neck Swim Top in cosmic blue. And the Beach Living Solid Supplex Swim Mini, also in cosmic blue. The fabric is quick dry and now I won't have to bring an extra pair of shorts to slip over my suit for the trip home.
Even though I had taken measurements, I was still skeptical that the swimsuit would fit and be flattering once it arrived.I nervously tried it on. Yep, bottoms fit. Yep, top fits, too. Holy cow, could it really have been that simple?
When Land's End boasts "Flatering solutions for more Figures! More coverage * More Support * More Sizes" they aren't pulling your leg.
And one of the best features of the Land's End swimwear in my opinion is the SPF 50 fabric. Dark tans are so 80's, ladies. My best accessory this summer is a bottle of sunscreen.
If (I mean when) I finally lose all the baby fat and can fit into a smaller size, I am ordering another Land's End swimsuit.
(We outfitted the entire family in Land's End swimwear. Read my review of men's, girls', and babies' swimwear.)

I have two lands end swim tops, and one pair of black bottoms (I got the swim skirt). I love it and as soon as this baby pops out and I get back to my fighting weight, I plan to get a new one at the end of season sale. Their kids' sandals are also great, and if they don't fit you can return them to Sears.
I had a couple of Lands' End suits for years. I loved them - especially the bottoms that were swim shorts (with pockets, no less).
Isn't it heaven when you find a swim suit that fits right and doesn't make you look like a granny?
Lands End swimsuits are fabulous. So worth the price. I have 2 tankini tops, a skirted bottom and a shorts bottom. Mix and match... and great fit. I love that you can buy the pieces all separately.
Right now... I really wish they just had more of a maternity line.
Tankinis are great for moms. The new ones out are soooo cute and sexy! I love them, they cover the right places and enhance your best assests!
Quite nice and sexy!
