The Full Mommy Celebrates Earth Day with Clorox Green Works

There's a new line of environmentally friendly cleaners in town with a name you wouldn't have thought of: Clorox.

Clorox has come out with a full line of cleaning products called Green Works that are friendly not only to the environment, but also to your wallet.

The line of natural cleaning products includes five products: glass & surface, all-purpose, toilet bowl, dilutable, and bathroom cleaners.

Clorox boasts that Green Works
  • Work as well as traditional cleaners
  • Are made from plant- and mineral-based ingredients
  • Use biodegradable ingredients
  • Are never test on animals
I am happy to see environmentally-friendly cleaning products that are easily accessible to the general public. I hope that people who normally buy traditional cleaners see these on store shelves and give them a try.

I don't know about you, but I like to show my approval to companies who are making moves in the right direction towards being kinder to the environment and the health of our families.

(Check out my review of Clorox Green Works.)

WIN IT: We have TEN prize packages of the complete Clorox Green Works line of cleaning products (retail value $15 each prize package). To enter, leave a comment here by midnight (eastern), Friday, May 2, 2008 (anonymous comments with no e-mail are not valid entries). In your comment, please tell us one thing that is on your mind about the environment, something that you already do that is earth-friendly, or an action that you want to begin. If you've already tried Clorox Green Works, let us know what you think. Winners will be notified by e-mail and announced on Prizey Winners. See our Tips For Winning for further entry information.

I am trying to do more each day...we recycle a ton, use reusable grocery bags, use washcloths instead of paper towels, and use green cleaners around the house.

My next goal is to begin cloth diapering....when we get a dryer!

We have reusable shopping bags and reuseable water bottles as well. We're trying to use better cleaning products, so I'm really interested in checking these out. I wonder how the bathroom one works on the tub!

We recycle! And are now bullying our friends and family into it too.

Jamie said...

The main thing on my mind about the environment is that I am frustrated that our city doesn't recycle. I hate seeing all our plastic and paper goods go out in the trash.

We already use cold water for our laundry, use dryer balls to shorten drying time, and replace our old lightbulbs with compact fluorescents.

For the future, I just received some reusable bags from EcoBags, so I plan to take those everywhere with me to cut down on the waste of plastic grocery bags.

gunzie said...

We recycle as much as we can. We have re-usable bags we use when we go grocery shopping.
Now I use the Green works all purpose cleaner and I absolutely love it!! It smells fantastic and fresh and it really cleans. I would never change back to what I used to use. Thanks for the great giveaway!

Hello! I worry about the animals like Panda, Penquins, etc. where there home is becoming too warm and ruining their only habitat! Our family made a pledge this year to become more eco-conscious. We have turned down the water heater temperature and take shorter showers! Please enter me in your drawing. Thanks,Cindi

I try to reuse and recycle items as much as possible. For example, I need to buy something for the house, I usually buy it used on Craigslist.

I have used the clorox green products. They work great and smell even better.

As far as what I am doing, I use green cleaners, I have used cloth diapers with all my kids and am in the process of changing all their sippy cups to healthier ones.

I try to reduce consumption and reuse as much as possible - I love my reusable bags, use siggs for drinking water, use CFLs, etc.

I try to buy all natural cleaners, so I am excited about CGW!

Becky said...

I use cloth diapers, bring my own bags to the grocery store and breastfeed. It's the little things that matter the most.

Leni said...

Cloth Diapers! I keep thinking about them, almost everytime I change a diaper. I think about all the waste I am creating!! I think I am around the corner to trying them.

With my 5 month old son, I'm thinking more and more about the products we use around the house. I've been trying to find alternatives to toxic cleaners.

Jenna said...

Great giveaway! We've started unplugging chargers when they're not in use, using fewer plastic bags, using nontoxic cleaners, and doing a better job of recycling paper and plastic.

michelle said...

I am trying to recycle more, and think about what I'm buying and whether the packaging is recyclable and whether we need it. I'll try to buy in bulk. Also, stopped buying bottled water, except for a few just in case.

I'd love to start composting. great giveaway, thanks!

We started our own compost pile this year and have planted milkweed plants for monarch butterflies and have just hatched this weekend our very first Praying Mantis egg sack so introduce a species that I have not seen in the wild since my childhood days.

I've tried Clorox Green Works products before and my most favorite part is the scent. It's light, pleasant and not at all like the toxic cleaners I used to use.

Martha said...

We love the scent of the Clorox Green products and try to repurpose as many of our items as we can. We buy second hand because it saves the enviroment by not using new resources. ki4ggs(at)yahoo(dot)com

We do a lot to cut back and be green but the one thing that I feel really guilty about and want to change is using so many paper towels. I need to start using rags and just washing them.

I would love to start using reusable grocery bags and recycling more. I acutally have a long list of things I'd like to start to be more "Green".

We have a one cup per day rule. It saves a lot of room in the dishwasher so we usually only run it every other day!

Our household is slowly trying to go green. The first major hurdle was getting my husband to remember to recycle! I bring my own grocery bags to the store, drinking out of reusable water bottles instead of bottled, dryer balls instead of dryer sheets. I've been making my own household cleaners for 10 years, use reusable grocery bags, cloth diapers, make my own soap, use the new lightbulbs, and of course recycle (recyclable materials as well as clothing).

I'm very interested in Clorox's product, not having heard of this line. I'm not surprised they are jumping on the green bandwagon and really hope that people who usually pick up their other products will pick these up.

I'm really interested in their toilet cleaner, just 'cuz that's where I have the hardest time. :D

I hate to continue to waste more by buying new products or using things we don't need to. So I buy garage sale items and love the hunt! I also used cloth diapers on my kids (and resold them!), and have been making my own cloth bags for the grocery store. That's my next step.

I really am trying to reduce my impact. From small steps like recycling, organic fertilizer, reusable grocery bags, walking more to trying to teach my child about respect for our planet. I am trying to green up my cleaning and laundering- this would be perfect. I do not want to have to drive miles to get a "green" product- that would defeat the idea.

We recycle everything that we can. I'm trying to get into the habit of reusing more items though. I used to recycle my magazines. We get about 20 magazines a month. Now I put them in a canvas bag and when it gets full I donate them to the library's used book store. They sell them for a quarter. The library makes a little money and someone else gets to enjoy the magazine too before it (hopefully) ends up being put in their recycle bin.
