Plus, revisit some of the environmentally friendly products we've already reviewed:
- Vegan kids' shoes from Polliwalks
- Wooden toys from Sassy
- Reusable dryer sheets from Static Eliminator
- Junk-mail reducing service from Catalog Choice
Plus plus, here are some mini-reviews of more green goodies and eco-ideas:
Jodi: I've started using the Method products. They are good for the environment, cruelty-free, and safe to use around children and pets. I especially love the squeaky green baby and body wash. Michael has incredibly sensitive skin and everything causes him to break out in a rash and we have had no problems with this. Plus, it smells really, really yummy.
Lady M: We use a lot of paper towels to wipe Q's hands, the kitchen table, his hands, his dinner tray, and his hands again. I've wanted to switch over to using some kind of kitchen cloth that we could re-use, but there was the question of where to put the damp, dirty wipes so they wouldn't rot while waiting to be washed. In our new house, we have a laundry room right next to the kitchen, where we've designated a miniature bucket for kitchen cloths. I hang the material on the side of the bucket until it dries, and then toss it inside. (Read the full entry for more move-inspired earth-friendly moves.)
Mayberry: Serving a meatless meal even just once or twice a week helps save energy, reduce water pollution and limit greenhouse gas emissions. Plus you save calories, fat, and money too. Thanks to my vegan brother and sister-in-law, we found a great cookbook called Tofu Cookery. Trust me -- you will be amazed what you can do with curdled soybeans. For an even easier meal, I chop up a chunk of tofu and stir-fry it with one of the rice noodle packages from Thai Kitchen. The box comes with noodles and a seasoning packet and yes, I could probably make it myself for a fraction of the cost but I am a lousy cook and hate to have to think while I am cooking. The TK mix makes it super-easy.
We'd love to hear your suggestions in the comments. See you tomorrow for the first giveaway!
