Recently I was asked to review Pampers Stages. What mom turns down free diapers? This was like a treat for Michael's tushie. Since we normally buy the Kirkland or the Luvs diapers, Pampers are like the Tiffany of diapers for him.
I actually finally understood why people spend more money on diapers. First of all, I was asked what Michael's weight was and was very surprised when a size 4 showed up. He normally wears a 5. But, these diapers were big, and covered a much larger area than other diapers.
Also, they stretched further and honestly fit him better. No rashes, no chaffing, no problems. And in an entire box of diapers, not one leak. And that is something to celebrate.
Pampers has a convert in this household.

We used Pampers with our daughter right up until she potty trained. But with our son, the Pampers rubbed his tummy and gave him a rash. I think it was the meshy lining. We switched to Huggies for him and he's fine. When I ran out and tried using a few leftover Pampers, the rash returned. I gave almost a full case to a friend (ouch, that hit my pocketbook). Luvs are so heavily perfumed that the sample we got in the mail gave me an instant sinus headache when I took it out of the package.
It's strange how what works for one baby, does not work for another.
I agree entirely with leeanthro (above). Pampers did not work well for us at all. They stuck to the skin of the boy's "naughty bits" and had to be (very carefully) pulled off.
We used Luvs sucessfully, and found the best disposable for us was actually the cheapie (relatively cheap) store brand diapers from our local grocery chain.
Find what works best for you -- disposable brand, cloth, or even none -- and go with it!
I was asked by the same folks to do a review as well. I wasn't as happy with them as you (nighttime leakage was a MAJOR problem), but here's my review.
