All I want is a pair of ankle boots*

Update below:**

Now I realize I've been one crazy lady for the past couple of weeks and I am trying not to take it out on everyone I've come in contact with. And I've tried to do what makes most women feel better: Retail therapy.

I blogged about these recently. And I swooned. Then I waited. Then I tapped my foot a little. My foot without a fancy ankle boot.

I'm still waiting.

When I bought said boots I used a coupon Piperlime sent me for 20%. It said it was good through September. I used it. Then I went and shopped some more. A few pairs of work pants later ( You see-I'm not pregnant! I'm buying pants that I definately won't fit in if I do get pregnant because that's the way my life works. When I spend money I usually wind up with the opposite result of what I was hoping for.) I decided I needed some gray shoes. I had a coupon for 20% off so why not? I typed in my wacky 18 character code and waited to see my checkout price drop dramatically. But it didn't. It said my coupon had already been redeemed. Please enter another code. Only I didn't have another code. I had no choice. I did what any self respecting 20% wanting off woman would do. I called Piperlime at 10:30 on a Saturday night.

They lady who answered was certainly pleasant, but she informed me the coupon was a one time only deal (It didn't say that) and there was nothing she could do (I doubt that) even if I hade lost it. ( I didn't lose it. I wanted to buy more. From them.) Too tired to argue I conceded. Since I hadn't received an email saying my order had shipped I asked her to check on my (sigh) boots. "In progress" was the report. This was three days after I had placed the order, which isn't extreme, but longer than I expected. She couldn't tell me any more than that.

Fast forward to today. I still don't have my boots. They still haven't shipped. In the meantime I've decided I really don't want those shoes after all. I'm going to be sad when my next credit card bill comes. So I called them. I ordered them yesterday, clearly they haven't shipped. I called them back. Could you please cancel this order for me? No. No? No. Once the order is in progress there is nothing they can do.

I realize things aren't as easy as you imagine them to be in your mind. I know there is no magic button that makes the assembly line stop, but since my order from five days ago hasn't shipped I bet if someone would have really tried, they might have been able to do a little something.

I just did one last check. It's 10:23. My shoes and boots have officially still not shipped.

A delay on shipping is OK. A coupon that's not exactly clear is fine too. Not very helpful options from customer service, well it happens. But all of these things happening together is a little less than stellar performance from a very crowded and lucrative shoe shopping e-world.

Where do you order shoes? Or don't you? Suggestions? Seriously. I need some ankle boots over here stat.

*That's not a true statement.

**Edited to add, I received this email from Piperlime this week:

Thank you for shopping Piperlime. We received the following items(s) for return.
Your credit should appear on your statement in one to two billing cycles."

One to TWO billing cycles? Isn't that like, 60 days?

Lame.

I had that same problem with Piperlime. Good prices, especially with a coupon, and they had what I wanted, but they took FOREVER to ship...around a week. I eventually tried to cancel the order because my shoes weren't going to arrive in time, and they told me the same thing...it was too late for them to cancel the order. So annoying. I won't order from them again because of how long it took them to ship my order.
Zappos has free next day shipping but is usually overpriced...I recommend Endless.com - I also got free next day shipping and free returns from them and they had some great sales. If I order from them before or two pm or something, I will have them THE NEXT DAY.

In my world: If they do not have it at DSW, it might as well not exist.

Lara is our shoe expert so she will have to weigh in on this one.

They won't cancel your order even though they haven't shipped it? That is ridiculous.
This is my main beef with buing online. If they don't make it as easy as possible for me, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Zappos babe. Try it, love it. It becomes an addiction.
